Specialty Management Access Portal (SMAP)
The Specialty Management Access Portal (SMAP) is a claims management tool designed for infusion facilities, streamlining the full lifecycle of medication claims from coverage verification to billing and reversal. Users can check medication and patient coverage through trial claims, view detailed patient and claim histories, convert saved trial claims into real billable submissions, and reverse paid claims within a 180-day window. The dashboard also provides at-a-glance tracking of submitted claims, prior authorizations, and authorizations still in progress—giving facility staff a centralized, efficient way to manage specialty medication billing and compliance.
I was lead designer on the SMAP initiative, a sister application to it's predecessor Pre Check My Script (PCMS). Embracing a 90 day turn around from concept to full production, I leaned heavily on a pre-established styleguide and pattern libraries making additions and enhancements along the fast paced journey. Axure RP was utilized to design and prototype this proof of concept that later launched as a full scale enterprise application.
The four-quadrant landing structure gives users a clear entry point regardless of task, while the tabbed history views reduce cognitive load by separating "action" workflows from "status monitoring" processes.
Fun fact, I had the opportunity to create the SMAP logo icon interweaving a S and M into the IV tubing.
